Finishing Options
The Handmade Giclee is a final product. Based on your selection,
we will finish the product according to your standards.
The finsihing varies with the type of materials.

Stretching
Canvas is hand stretched onto stretcher bars. We offer 2
thicknesses for a ready to hang or ready to frame product.

The canvas is wrapped around a 1½" thick wooden
stretcher frame. The image wraps onto the sides for clean
modern look, finished and ready-to-hang.
Light
Stretch
The canvas is wrapped around a ¾" wooden stretcher
frame. Customers choose this thinner piece as a lower
cost ready-to-hang alternative or if they are planning
to custom frame the canvas themselves.

You may prefer to stretch the canvas yourself. You may
purchase the print on canvas only.

Edges
When stretching a canvas, it is important to think of the
edges, and how you wish for them to look. We offer the 4
following edge options.
Mirror Wrap
Edge of the graphic is replicated and mirrored to go around
the edge. This is effective for image flow, but not losing
any of the image.
Gallery Wrap
Image is stretched around the face and sides. You will
lose some of the image on the face, because it will be
on the sides.
Black or White Edge
Image is intact and complete on the face, and you can
choose to color the sides black or white.

Art
Paper Edges
Art papers are printed and naturally trimmed to the edge
of the graphic. If you prefer, we have 2 add-on options
for the edges:
1" Border
A 1 inch border will be left in white, and trimmed around
the art.
Deckled
Deckled edges give the art paper a torn look. Commonly
used for floating the art within a frame.

What do I need to know?
Best file format, resolution and image size
Short answer: 300 dpi jpeg or TIFF
Long answer: The resolution from most digital cameras works
perfectly for our canvas product. If your camera is 5 mega
pixel or higher and you've taken the photo at the highest
setting you won't have a problem. If you're not sure about
any of that, you can check the file size by right clicking
on your image, then, click on properties, where the size
will be displayed. Images that are 2 meg or higher are great.
Images under 2 meg but higher than 700kb are almost always
workable, so go ahead and upload those. Files under 700kb
may work if the canvas is not too large and the image is
clear, feel free to upload those as well with a note in
the comments to contact you if there is an issue with resolution.
JPEG or TIF files are both OK. We'll always call you if
there is an issue.
Image Preparation for Canvas
| Light Stretch: Standard stretcher bars
have a depth of ¾ inches. Your file therefore,
needs to be 1 ½ inches larger in both dimensions
than the size of the face of the canvas. Using a 16
x 20 canvas as an example: The face of the canvas is
16 x 20, the image needs to be 17 ½ x 21 ½.

| Thick stretcher bars are heavy duty, and
twice as thick as standard bars. They have a depth of
1 ½ inches. Your file therefore, needs to be
3.25 inches larger in both dimensions than the size
of the face of the canvas. Using a 16 x 20 canvas as
an example: The face of the canvas is 16 x 20, the image
needs to be 19.25 x 23.25. |

Proofing
We do offer proofs that can be mailed to you for $25 or
on-site proofing for $15.
Color Management
All of our equipment is calibrated to Adobe RGB color space.
Scanning tips
You can use a flat bed scanner to scan your image at 300
dpi resolution. Save the file in RGB mode using JPEG format
with the highest quality setting and lowest compression.
We provide art scanning, digital capture to artists that
print with us.
Custom Sizes
We can do any size canvas from 8 x 8 to 52 x 104. If ordering
a custom size, please select the closest larger size, then
in the comments, tell us the custom size you'd like.
Artwork Signing
Many Artists and Photographers wish to sign their giclees.
We offer several options for this:
Signature
in file
Artists may superimpose their autograph/signature into
the file so it will be printed in the giclee. This is
efficient and allows for further artistic appeal.
Sign at GRI
Studios
If you are in the Denver area and would like to sign the
giclee after is it printed, and before it ships. You may
come to our facility in Denver. A printer will call you
to schedule.
I will take
care of this
We will ship the completed product to you as usual to
sign.

Order review and contact
We review every order before processing. If we think something
is amiss, our helpful customer service team will call you
to discuss your order.
When it will ship?
We usually ship your canvas within 3-5 business days from
receipt of your image. Note: If you need your canvas for a
special event please call us at orders@gristudios.com. We'll
bend over backwards to get it where you need it, when you
need it.
Shipping
All items are carefully wrapped in protective foam and packaged
to prevent damage during transit then shipped via FEDEX.
Ground Shipping:
Averages 3-5 days in the US
Overnight Service is available upon request.
International shipments are available upon request.
Shipping and handling charges are calculated by pieces
and destination.
Ship to someone else
We prompt you for the shipping and billing address. We will
not contact the recipient in any way, shape or form so if
it is a surprise, your secret is safe with us. All emails
will be sent to you directly.
What

We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If for any reason
you're not completely satisfied we will gladly accept a return
for exchange, provided the item is returned within thirty
(30) days from date of shipment.
Return procedures
To return an item, please print the following return form,
completely fill it out and attach a 3" x 5" piece
of the canvas cut from the product and return to:
